Obama – 44th Presidential Inauguration:
Celebrity Supporters and First Lady Jewels
Yesterday morning Barack Obama was a Junior Senator with a heck of a day ahead of him. By night, he was the 44th President Elect of the United States and had become the biggest name in the universe. But now his campaign team has a real tough task ahead – yep – by January they’ve got to throw one of the biggest parties to hit Washington. Obama’s supporter-list isn’t just star-studded, it’s
a galaxy by itself.
Last night the divine Ms Winfrey was on hand to celebrate her chosen one’s victory, along with Brad Pitt and others. But come inauguration day, Hollywood’s going to be migrating to the East Coast for one big bash.
Halle Berry, Lindsay Lohan, Billy Joel, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johanssen, Ben Affleck, Bruce Springsteen, Will Smith, Quincy Jones and Edward Norton are just a handful of names that make up the tip of the celebrity iceberg that’s been promoting, Hollywood-style, the Vote For Obama message.
The style of the Obama’a is somewhat more understated. The First Lady to-be has become synonymous with a sensible – yet chic persona. J. Crew (she really is like most of us) was given the Washington shake with Michelle Obama’s now signature jewel – the brooch.
During an appearance on the Tonight Show, Jay Leno asked the old ‘so how much did that cost you question ‘I’m guessing about $60,000, $70,000 for that outfit,’ Leno joked.
“Actually this is a J. Crew ensemble. We ladies, we know with J. Crew. You can get some good stuff online,” a gracious Mrs. O replied.
“Do you order it all online? Doesn’t that take the fun out of it?”
“When you don’t have time, you’ve got to click.” How right she is…
Last night her jewelry style though was all about the bling (as well it should be for such an auspicious occasion). She appeared with Jill Biden – wife of Vice-President Elect Biden in a pair of diamond hoop earrings and a diamond cuff bracelet.
It’s been quite a journey for the self-titled soon-to-be ‘mom in chief’.
