The Jewelry Insider

May 20, 2012

Jane Fonda’s Chopard jewelry at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival is red hot and rockin’ my world. Her most recent appearance was at the premiere for “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” in a custom-made Roberto Cavali Wizard-of-Oz red sequined number. Dorothy, eat your heart out.

This woman is 74, people. Wowzers.

But let’s get to the jewels, shall we. Chopard couture is makin me crazy again with a pair of 60-carat rubellite and black and white diamond drop earrings that matched her pear-shape 50-carat (!) rubellite tourmaline ring set in ruby and white diamond pave.

It’s red carpet couture on crack, jewelry hounds. Cannes always brings it.

And for one more jaw-dropper before I sign off – behold my favorite Cannes jewelry star, Israeli TV Host Hofit Golan, with this stunning butterfly bling by de GRISOGONO. We’re talking white and pink gold sparkling with emeralds and amethysts.

Big. Deep. Breath.

But this is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more couture craziness from the Croisette! What’s next? In a word: Brangelina.

On May 17, Jane Fonda showed up on the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the “De Rouille et D’os'” premiere at Palais des Festivals in all her glory.
For the second day in a row, the 72-year-old actress rocked an amazing gown. This one, designed by Stella McCartney and done in black and white, was more demure than Wednesday’s showing which had Fonda in a sexy bronze Atelier Versace gown that gave the illusion of being strapless.
