Pirates of a different sort robbed superhunk, Orlando Bloom’s, treasure chest of nearly $500,000 in jewelry and loot this week.

Officers were called to the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s home in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, after one of the actor’s relatives found the home had been broken into, police spokeswoman Tenesha Dobine said.

Cash and jewelry were taken, but Dobine declined to provide a value for the items. Celebrity website TMZ.com reported that $500,000 worth of goods was stolen. Two pricey watches are rumored to be among the missing loot.

While nothing can replace the emotional value of your jewelry, there are steps you can take to protect your financial investment from the sticky finger brigade that seems to be having a field day in Hollywood lately (see Paris Hilton and Queen Latifah for more)

From blingy brooch jewelry to gardening and upper arm workouts, our nation’s First Lady is setting trends all over the place. The latest look that has Obamaphiles drooling is a bright lavendar watch she wore in Paris while sightseeing with her daughters.

The watch is from Toywatch and as soon as the style hit the airwaves the watchmaker had the style on backorder. Well, I’ve been doing some digging in the Jewelry.com treasure chest and just happened to find it offered from their brand new Diamond Partner, Nordstrom.

Priced reasonably at $195, the purple timepiece from the Plasteramic Collection is perfect for casual daytime use or could cause a stir if paired with a fun cocktail dress.

If Michelle can bare her arms in the halls of Congress and sport blingy diamonds in the daytime, you can wear a purple watch to a formal. Go for it.

And if purple isn’t your style, they have an array of colorful options – from bright green and orange to pretty in pink.

So check out the Nordies Toywatch collection on Jewelry.com by clicking right here, and be sure to browse through their other hot jewelry styles.

Designer names like Dolce & Gabbana, Juicy Couture, Betsy Johnson, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade and more are all there for the taking – all at prices that will make your frugalista side smile wide.

What do you guys think of the watch style? Perfectly purple or a plastic poser?

SpongeBob SquarePants is turning 10 this year (feeling old now?), and to celebrate he’s getting a blingy makeover from hip-hop and fashion impresario, Russell Simmons.

Isn’t that what every sea-dwelling sponge lives for?

Simmons Jewelry
is collaborating with Nickelodeon/Viacom Consumer Products on a SpongeBob SqaurePants jewelry and watch line that will hit stores in time for fall. In the meantime, a signature SpongeBob pendant is being auctioned off for Simmons’ Diamond Empowerment Fund and is making its glittering debut at the Sundance Film Festival this week, where they are staging the first-ever SpongeBob live cast reading.

One lucky kid will get to wear a whopping 12 carat diamond-encrusted SpongeBob around their little neck if the ‘rents pony up. The design is an abstract interpretation of Mr. SquarePants and includes white diamonds as well as color enhanced yellow, red and blue diamonds set in 18KT yellow and white gold.

“We are always looking for innovative ideas to develop fine jewelry and the Nickelodeon partnership to license SpongeBob is the perfect addition to the Simmons Jewelry Co. family,” said Russell Simmons, who will be on-hand to announce the partnership at Sundance.

The entire retail collection will feature a variety of designs using enamel, gold, silver, and diamonds. Prices will range from $150 to $75,000 clams.

Getting “Happy Squared” never looked this good.

Diamonds Drip at Piaget Jewelry Launch

Diamond bows, glittering gold cocktail rings and Eiffel Tower-inspired jewels were just some of the styles on hand at the red carpet launch of Piaget’s new Limelight Paris-New York jewelry and watch collection.

The star-studded event was held at the private Loft & Gardens in New York’s famed Rockefeller Center, and some of Hollywood’s classic beauties were on hand to celebrate.

The Dark Knight’s Maggie Gyllenhaal, wore the collection’s signature bow-shaped watch, while Emmy Rossum dazzled in Piaget’s white gold and diamond cascade necklace. Liv Tyler chose a 36 carat pink tourmaline cocktail ring and Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester kept it simple with diamond drop earrings and a series of sparkling bracelets.

Piaget’s CEO, Philipe Liopil-Metzger personally escorted the couture collection from Switzerland, which is inspired by the aesthetic and architectural worlds of Paris and New York. What’s not to love? The fact that only a limited number of the baubles are available to the gawking public. Let us eat cake, Piaget!
